Hi Rusty. Greetings from New Mexico, USA. I work in Australia frequently - contract for the mines - in fact I'm here right now. What town are you in?
 
About 2hr drive north of Sydney, near Newcastle
Have a few mates in the mines around the hunter area where are you contracting in oz?
 
I'm just now at the Sydney airport headed back to the states...

I'm in Singleton often and spend some time in Newcastle exploring the parks and ocean shore. Our main client in that area is Ravensworth Underground. I just worked on a project there a couple of weeks ago before heading up to Cannington Mine in Queensland. I'm probably in Mudgee more than anywhere else though, and we work in the Bulli - Wollongong area quite a bit also at several different mines.

Driving from Cannington to Sydney the last couple of days was quite an adventure! One-lane roads with oncoming truck trains, dodging animals (roos, cattle, wild pigs, emus, sheep...), floods, tire-sized potholes. Wheh!

We're also at Lake Mcquarrie often, not far from Singleton and Newcastle. I think West Wallsend is the name of the mine there.
 
Your just around the corner then its a nice area isnt it, we spend a fair bit of time at Stockton beach camping and fishing and there's some good 4x4ing round there as well heading back towards the central coast
