-MRE's (same) - $9
-Emergency Blanket (same, 7'x4') - $2

AMK heatsheets ~ $4
Photon Micro light ~ $6
GSI Glacier SS cup (nests a Nalgene bottle) ~ $7

I would like to find a few boxes of the strike anywhere kitchen matches.
Very hard to find now.

Theres a few Victorinox SAKS at around $10 like the classic, Fiskars folding scissors, small Pelican box, MiniMaglite 2AA or 2AAA, magnesium fire starter, P51, P38, and lots of Coghlan's gear.

The best things for around $10 are firesteels, Moras, Opinels and probably the cheaper of the straw filters that is for up to 20(?) gallons.

Are you in Canada?
I don't think they can sell them in the US anymore.

No, they can. I seem to find them just about everywhere I go.
-Hardware stores
-Walmart
-Grocery Stores

You just aren't looking hard enough!:D

I know they took them off the selves a few years ago.One box of kitchen strike anywhere were selling at gunshows for 6.00 a box, they were 1.00 a month or two earlier in the store.
I will keep an eye out,the only ones I have seen are strike on box.

My local Orscheln' S sells (3) large boxes strike anywhere's for $2.50. They are still made and sold in the US, just not everywhere.

Picked these up at Walmart today, all 3 for under $20!

First I'll have my thoughts upon opening them, and then later as I get to use them I will do more of review.

First,

Packable day pack.

Pretty darn small when packed down

Not too bad for its size, and the price of $5

Nothing I would want to hike for days in, my should be great for throwing in my bigger pack.

Next up the pack cover,

Not my favorite color, but for the $4.88 it cost me should do just fine!

And the 5x7 backpacker tarp as they call it.

6 grommets, which look pretty weak, but only time will tell and for the $9.98 I paid the nylon should be worth that price. At the size it is, I wouldnt be using it as my main tarp shelter, but would work great for a ground cloth or a quick shleter in day pack.

Comes with a decent stuff sack

Skab Jr and I threw up a couple quick shelers to try it out

All in all, so far not too bad of stuff for the price, and for someone just starting out these items would be great.

I will update as I abuse them in the field.

Been looking around,it seems the red and white topped matches have been replaced with a green and white top.I do remember something about the old ones could be crushed and made into something.
