I'm starting to take a bit of a shine to this pattern, in single-blade configuration. At 4.5" closed, it seems perhaps a tad large for pocket carry.

Any opinions/experience?

Should be GEC-all caps

I carry a two-bladed version at work and around the house. It's a little on the big side, but it can be done comfortably if you have a way to keep it vertical in your pocket. I use my phone or the official jacknife bandana method. Yes, it's long, girthy, and heavy, but it's sure nice to have a real blade and a real hand-filling handle when you need it.

i carry the pioneer single blade in a horizontal nylon belt sheath. at 5'9" it's a little big for pocket carry. however the guys wearing overalls will find it fine in the pocket.the pattern certainly will handle any task up to what a med. straight knife can. i've used my red buff locker to do whitetails & find the edge holding exceptional.

On a couple of occasions I've seen jacknife describe shoving a loosely wadded bandana down over your knife in your pocket. Serves to keep you from losing the knife, and in this case, keeping the knife oriented in your pocket so that it stays comfortable. The key is *loosely* wadded, otherwise it feels like youve got a tennis ball (and a big pocket knife) in your pocket.

Just avoid anything that looks like this or we'll have to pull your man card...

I find that large folders, like the #23, fit fine in my back pocket beside my wallet. I do the trifold wallet thing so there is some room left over.

I began the jackknife method yesterday and have found it a great way to keep my furtaker vertical in my back pocket. The furtaker is also a pretty good sized folder and I find it great for pocket carry.
