on the model #55 the combination of the stiff springs and half stop made it tricky to open. if you were not careful the tip of the blade could stick the palm of your hand while opening. didn't like that at all.
I understand why people who carry a traditional slip joint want a knife that is easy to open but for me I love GEC knives because they do have half stops and tight springs. I have an ez open jack that I sometimes carry but for the most part I just collect the knives. I hope that GEC doesn't ever change the way they produce their knives because in my opinion it would be a mistake. I know its off topic a little but it is on topic with tight back springs... Case went from making what I consider to be good solid built knives to what they are producing today. I think it is great that GEC will loosen up the back springs if you want but I just hope they don't start producing them in that fashion.
