GEC #73 Cocobolo first impressions

I too really rate the #73 pattern. I carry one grizzly cut bone worker.

Ok, i gotta ask
pure curiosity here

the liner lock, isnt that UNCOMFORTABLE when your using the knife when that piece sticks out like that
i dont own any liner locks like that, and i have handled a shrade linerlock trapper and that brass piece really dug into my fingers if i held on to it tightly.

i see how many people say they like this knife as a worker, and i cant help but think that liner would just hurt
do people just wear gloves so it doesnt really cut into their hand? or am i just missing something

thanks, sorry for going off topic though :/

When I hold the knife how I like too, the apex of the hump is in between my index and middle finger, so I really feel no discomfort. The hump is polished nicely and doesn't feel sharp or out of place, it's actually hard to notice.
I really like that about this knife and the locking mechanism is very fluid and functional, even after three deer and gallons of blood.

Sorry to hear you got rid of it, it was a nice piece.

I was sorry to see it go too, but I see on another forum that it has found a good home (and not too far away from me, either). My sadness at its departure was tempered by one fact, and this will keep us from going too far afield of Keith's topic -- I do have a really lovely cocbolo 72:

Yes, that's what I meant, really good grain on that Coco.

The liner tab doesn't impede or annoy me at all, maybe it's the way I hold it. The brass is very nicely rounded and finished, this helps too.

I'd second that, clever placement means you don't really notice it. I like the extra thickness the linerlock gives to the handle. A simple linerlock which perhaps offers a little strength to the frame too.

Thanks Johnny, enjoying the stag I am:)

Glad you're enjoying the #72 Cocobolo too Doug, they've made a really nice combination with the long pull clip blade and triple grooved bolster in my opinion. Really crisp finish too. GEC's work gets better and better.

I have one of the older #73 Jacks in Cocobolo. Really nice grain and color on this one.
