GEC 73 Restoration Help

Soak the rusted areas in wd40 a bit then hit it with a brass wire brush by hand or in a dremel wheel on low speed to remove the rust without leaving marks on the steel

As Bernard Levine says, "Read the knife" and I understand that as looking at the context of the knife. In this case, it's not old or rare and it's wanted as a user, so therefore I have no problem with a radical clean up. The pitting is nasty and will get worse, so I'd get fine paper and get it off:D:D, as for the bolsters, use a leather strop it polishes nicely without damage like more abrasive methods. Use some metal polish, polish the scales with some wax, put an edge on it and start using it to your advantage. It will then gain its own patina without corrosion dangers and be a very nice item.
Naturally, if this were an antique knife, rare or for display only, cleaning should be minimal but this one needs some encouragement and attention:cool:
