Love the 79. Just thought I'd keep this thread alive.

Beautiful knives; one of my favorite knives. Hard to believe it's been 4 years since GEC made that configuration!

4 years?!?!? First knife GEC released new after I started hanging around this sub forum. It is certainly a great knife and I think this matching set pic belongs in here.

Love the Red whittler. This and the canvas are ones I'm always looking for.

Yup, it's been a long 4 years. The Montana Whittler was the first pattern GEC released after I stumbled upon this forum, and the knife that stoked my interest in Traditionals. IIRC, there wasn't very much interest when the initial release hit the market. I was fortunate enough to grab one in canvas Micarta and another in Calico bone. I really like how the Northfield knives had satin-finished blades (excluding the stag, of course). There have been a few releases with modified blade configurations since then, but the original Whittler pattern is still my favorite. Still hoping for another run, someday...:(:o

I was lucky to snag Rockgolfer's whittler in Canvas from Soneman a while back. I have a few versions of this whittler, and the canvas version is my go to one. Of the others,it has the best walk and talk. I described it in an earlier post as "clickity-clack-whack".

Here is my canvas (vice Soneman vice Rockgolfer), thanks guys:

It's great to see that one again. I'll gladly take it back if you ever decide you don't want it ;).

The walk and talk was great on it, that was my first GEC and it spoiled me. The red bone whittler was a gift and at the time I didn't think I would ever need 2. Just glad to see its not sitting in a drawer somewhere not being appreciated  :)

I love both of mine, but this one is a grail knife, its the one that got me hooked...
