My wife suffered life altering injuries, and not only do I have medical bills but I had to retire early so that I can care for her 24/7. As a result, I need cash. These are hard to part with, but to quote Tolkien, "One who cannot cast away a treasure at need is in fetters."

Shipping to CONUS only. First to reply "I'll take it" in this thread, followed by a PM, gets it.

I'll start with these two. First is a GEC 81 Abilene with African Blackwood scales. It has been sharpened and carried a few times, but I don't recall ever using it. Asking $200. SOLD

Second is a GEC 72 with African Blackwood covers. This has been sharpened, carried some, and used on a few apples, as the slight patina shows. Typical for the pattern, it has a little side to side play, as well as very slight vertical play. Asking $150. SOLD

Sorry to hear of your medical and financial problems, I'm praying for you. You could have gotten a LOT more for those two knives.

You're not the first person to tell me that. I am conflicted on this. In recent years I have seen the high prices asked for various GEC knives and felt that a little greed was involved. I would feel like a hypocrite if I did the same, regardless of my immediate needs. I got more out of those knives than I had in them. I only have a few GECs left, and if it comes to selling them, perhaps I will do a little asking to see what an appropriate asking price would be.

Her hospital bill came to $108K. The two different surgeons billed separately, as did ER, anesthesiology, imaging, etc. Still more yet to come, such as for the five weeks in a rehab facility. Fortunately insurance is covering the bulk of it. The real lesson is to treasure the time you have with loved ones. It can change in the blink of an eye.
