I know they’re different completely. I’m just torn. I really can only buy one at the moment. What does the porch think?

A pic for comparison

I vote 92 because it is a more unique pattern. The blades on the Dixie Stockman are less common than most stockmen patterns, however the Eureka Jack is a more interesting pattern to me overall.
Plus I prefer square bolstered Stockmen over rounded bolsters. Just an aesthetic thing for me.

I chose the Dixie Stockman, sold a 92 Talon.

I’ll muddy the waters by suggesting that a 66 Calf Roper would also be an excellent choice. My old Calf Roper basically blocked the Dixie Stockman and some others from being carried much - I gave it away and so far have forced myself not to get another one. IMO, they’re that good.

I really like my 92's, and have had only one Dixie Stockman... in stag. I traded that one off, but would certainly be interested in a smoother Dixie, like the micarta, or a wood. They are very nice knives, with a versatile blade assortment. The 92's are sleeker, IMHO.... although I've never held a Possum Skinner... the pics make it look pretty slim and handy..

Bottom line... I don't know which I'd recommend... both (all three) have great qualities.

I have had them all. For me, the Dixie Stockman has the edge over the Possum Skinner because of the third blade option. Thinness is not a major criteria for me. In fact, I often prefer a thicker knife because it offers a better grip for me. I have been considering buying another Dixie Stockman for some time.

I do like the 92 pattern. GEC’s execution is close to perfection. It is relatively slim. The handle is strangely ergonomic and the combination of that spear and the coping blade is brilliant. I sold my
Camel Bone model simply due to my health condition that amplified the “slippery” nature of the material. Now, I’m eyeing the micarta version.

Tough choices. Good fortune to you.

I haven't had a chance to check out the possum skinner yet but I think the dixie stockman is a pretty great knife.

The earlier 2014 run of Dixie Stockman were, I think, better than the last one. Preferred the scales, slant bolsters on some, plus the Stag had shields:cool: So in this case I prefer the Skinner as it carries very slim but handles nicely, and it's a new variant.

With the Eurekas, my vote also goes for the earlier release by a long chalk. Barehead option, all steel construction just like that far more, Tidioutes were unadorned but beautiful.

Hoping they'l do a Talon single-blade Spear this year (It could make an ace Forum Knife for that matter) Rat-Tail, Long pull, Barehead, Smooth Bone:thumbsup:
