I'm going to buy 2 GEC knives in the next few days. So many patterns to choose from. These will be my first GEC knives and will go into my daily carry rotation. I would like to know what your favorite patterns (limit of 2) are and why. Thanks in advance.

As of yet, I do not own a GEC, but if (when) I buy one, it will either be a #15 or a #66 of some configuration (probably cocobolo or ironwood handles) :)

The model #92 Eureka Jack is probably my favorite. At 3 5/8th" it's a nice combination of pocketable & hand-filling. You get a spear main and a coping secondary - a very useful combination of blades. As for my 2nd choice it changes depending on my mood. Probably my single blade Pemberton. Just a nice simple small knife that is easily carried yet can do most of your daily cutting jobs.

For me, it would be a #72 Cody Scout and/or an #85.

I like the Spey-like profile of the blade on the #72 and the #85 that I have is pretty sweet (Real Harness in Walnut Jigged Bone). For a while, I would have said the #15, but the aforementioned two are the perfect sizes…not too big, not too small. I really like the #66 as well, but like the #15, a 3.5" knife is as small as I would like to go. IMO, you should try to pick up some on the exchange, any model that calls your attention...if you don't like them, you can pass them along and break even. You don't want to find yourself buying a knife that you don't like and can't sell, you'll just be out a lot of money. Then, if you really like the knife…get yourself a new one. Good luck.

Here's some old pics of mine…

15 and 48 are my favorites, I suppose. Right size and nice blade choices.

The #61

And the #25

Are by far my most used/carried pocket knives.

#15 Crown lifter. Practical and a joy to use.
#47 Viper. I love this knife. Beautiful, classy and just plain awesome.
Those are the two to get in my humble opinion.
I haven't owned a fraction of the knives of most here

I only own 2. #81 is my grail knife and the 56 is just plain cool. I was born in 56 so the jack just fits the bill.
I like the Tidioute because of the simplicity or not over embellished.

Of all the GEC patterns I've owned, my favorite is the 66 White Owl. It's 3.5" and an equal end with a clip and pen. It is also available with a spear main.
My second would have to be the 33 Conductor with the 06 Pemberton right behind.

66 White Owl

33 Conductor

06 Pemberton

Just know that GEC's are produced in limited numbers. Not all pattern/handle options are readily available at any given time. I say #73 single blade drop point, the one that brung 'em to the dance, and the #71 Bullnose Work Knife.

85 because it rides nicely in my change pocket. I like a 92 for a larger knife but I carry it in a pocket sheath.

Not being funny, but two patterns is really difficult to do......they have such variety and their sometimes limited availability means you can be hard put to get one.

However,

I have to say the single blade 73 as their mainstay knife and for me an excellent size, credible but no monstrous bulk. the liner-lock version is particularly good. The other one would be a 33 Conductor, decent blade/compact frame and I vastly prefer single-spring knives to 2 spring Jacks.

Mention with Honour & Valour, 66 White Owl/Slim, 85 Bullet End, 79 Talon, 25 Single Blade.

Then there's the forthcoming Pruner/Whittler if you can hold your fire!

See what I mean?:D:D

Thanks, Will

Any on the #15 frame, the 66 Stockman, 81 Stockman, 85 Jack, 92 Eureka Jack, if you like Trappers the 48 is a favorite.
