GEC All Steel Knives

Oh now on another point... It seems I recall hearing in the past that the steel of the bolsters (not sure about the liners) is not the same as the 1095 steel of the blades. It's carbon steel but not exactly the same as the blade? Anyone able to confirm or elaborate on that?

True. My understanding is GEC hasn't said or published publicly what type steel the bolsters & liners are but have indicated it's low carbon steel.

OK thanks. The different steels will also age/patina differently do to their make-up I imagine.

Does GEC ever use nickel silver for liners? Does the 2013 Forum jack have steel liners or a different metal?

The 2013 forum knife has nickel silver liners and bolsters. As did the 2012 and 2011 forum knives. I'm not sure if they use nickel silver for their regular production items

I think on a few select models they go with nickel silver liners, but it's not very common. For example I'm pretty sure my Northfield #61 Half-Congress in elephant ivory has NS liners. Don't know about other models, but fairly certain I read that this 61 has NS liners.
