I love those 72's, BTH. I wasn't collecting or on to GEC when those were made, sure wish I had been. The 72 is probably my favorite trapper pattern, the size, blade shape,
handle shape, lanyard tube, jigged wood, and shield are all pleasing to my eye. I only have one 72, a 2016 ebony version lock back but I'm quite fond of it.
I love to see GEC do another run of these, a jigged Wenge or African Blackwood Beavertail might be nice.
