Someday they may diagnose me with some sort of obsessive/compulsive disorder, but in the meantime...

These may not be all my Ben Hogans ;), but this group does have one thing in common.

GEC Hogan 02s.jpg

Glitter Gold / Amber Jig / Grizzly Cut / Ebony / Primitive / Burnt Stag / Genuine Stag

Hi there Eric, ok humour my lack of knowledge in the knifeworld sir, but I am taking that these knives are serial numbered?..how'd you get the number 02's in all of them...eh?..eh? :D
They all look great, the Stag and Ebony call to me... I can hear them, and in the background I hear the voices of the stabalised Mammoth and the jigged bone :(

Certainly prefer them in Barehead form, except the Funkadelic Sandpaper one:D So, the Copperhead bolster doesn't cover the corner of the tang actually, or? Jigged bone and ebony look very appealing:thumbup:

So nice, so nice. This is a beautiful model. I really like the way the ebony emphasizes the slimness of the design.

snake--stag--ebony & crimson grizzly in latest sunfish.
this last fatty has no steel bolsters & whether that means gec has gone back to nickel silver caps or not i do'nt know. one thing is that i believe this is only the 2nd model with this shield. all knives came with a working edge which for many is certainly welcomed. we may not see anymore toenails for quite a while but i always like to check a few out.---dennis...wish swartz had graced us with his good pic last week so i would'nt have opted for snake in the hogan.

Let me know when you check into Shoal Creek for help and I'll watch over your collection until you get out. :D

The stag on the one on the right side is simply beautiful.

Eh, GEC will put whatever number you want on them if you ask nicely...

No really, yes, they all have the same serial number. Serial number 02 is the lowest number you can usually get from GEC because sn01 is kept for their collection.

I did make it a point this year to buy sn02 knives and key protos. I mainly just got lucky by keeping track of the releases and jumping on 02 knives when they came up for sale. In a couple of cases I asked a dealer if he had sn02 and he did.

I am missing the beaver tail, red wine and yellow rose, and the others didn't have serial numbers (sea shell, snakewood). They may still be available, but I am not chasing them. I'm not crazy, you know! :) (at least that is what my multiple personalities tell me.)

I'll email you if I get the chance. Better you have them than the alternative. My wife will probably just toss them in the street, where they'll roll down the hill in their little white tubes into the crik far below, get pushed downstream by the current and clog the breeding grounds of the poor crayfish.

wish swartz had graced us with his good pic last week so i would'nt have opted for snake in the hogan.

I would have put them up sooner, but was waiting some delayed by the cold weather.

I wanted a snake, I looked for a snake, but no good snakes were seen or hinted at...

Yeah, that is odd that they didn't go that extra little bit and cover the tang when closed. Probably should have. Maybe they meant to, but something went wrong.

nice set eric! love the amber, ebony (first time ever) and the staggys!

Dennis, is the crimson fish really nickel silver? no steel liners and caps? I have a 36 form 2010 and the nice part is it's all steel
good news on the edge, I'm getting one, ordered and will put it to use and steel would have been preferred a bit...

Maxx

That is a great set you have there Eric. I'm really liking the 2 stag on the right.

Just wondering out loud but are these underbladed or flush? I'm wondering if they left the tang that high to appease those who complained about underblading in the past.

No, not quite. But, in looking at mine, it seems more like a qc problem than anything else. The bit sticking up above the bolster is just about the same height as the amount of underblading when the knife is open. If the pivot hole was in the right place the spine would have been perfectly flush with the spring in the open position and also with the top of the bolster when closed. Its not a huge thing but the sharp corner that is exposed when the knife is in the closed position is pretty obvious if you run a fingertip across it.
However, thats about the only real flaw in this knife. Everything else is just as it should be.

maxx the crimson fish is the latest toenail but in nickel silver . i have 2 or 3 that came earlier in steel bolsters. what this means i ca'nt fanthom. which direction gec will take i do'nt know maybe they'll make toes 2 different ways. --dennis

Dennis, that stag hogan of yours has awesome popcorn-- is the mark side just as good, and is it genuine or burnt stag?

mamba this is other side of hogan in burnt stag. pictured also is northwoods gladiator in 60v which i wonder if made by gec. 60v is dinosuar but outcuts zdp by large margin. maybe someone knows more about the disc. northwoods moose. thanks---dennis
