GEC Bird & Trout Pattern Hunter

The GEC, it really is OK, and the price do-able - but to get a really good Trout and Bird - write to Alan Wood

I'll see if I can find a pic of mine - its not like you are going to buy two of them in your life :)

EDIT - found it - in RWL34 and stab. alder

Problem is, those GECs look too much like an open version of their pocket knives, I'm not sure this will be that much liked.

if the 1095 on gecs straight knives is as good as the folders these should be good field knives.as much as i love folders when cleaning deer & filleting fish a straight only makes sense. last year i did use a gec pioneer some on game but this was really a test to see if the slim bevel i put on the pioneer could slice thru bone w/o chipping. i was very pleased with the performance but clean up was more tedious.

This new line of knives (which have not been released yet due to sheath delay) has definitely caused some confusion. They will have fixed blades based on both the 73 and 23 frames.

An interesting concept, "stuck open pocketknives." Maybe it'll grow on me. But my initial impression is nah.

I wonder why the "bird & trout" is longer than the actual "hunter" pattern... Seems a little backward to me...

I think it will be a cool little knife. There's supposed to be a third one, an upswept skinner IIRC. didn't know they were gonna be in a bigger #23 format as well, though. Thanks Mike.
