GEC Churchill or Bull Moose

I don’t have a Churchill but I do have the 35 forum knife from a couple years ago. It is definitely a favourite. It rides great in pocket and the “boring” handle is super comfortable in hand. Not sure how the sheepsfoot on the Churchill feels.
I’ve also got a 81 Bull Moose however on that one I turned the spear into a wharncliffe with a Scagel like opening hole for a more useful blade combo. It rides nice in pocket but not as nice as the 35. It’s about a big as I’ll pocket. Great in hand as well. It definitely feels sturdier.

I have both a churchill and possum skinner. They are both fantastic single spring patterns. The Churchill carries easier because it's shape. The possum skinner feels better in hand. The blades on the churchill are more robust and i don't fear snapping the tip of either blade. The blades on the possum skinner are ground incredibly thin and have needle-like points and are more delicate blades.

So ultimately, were I to choose only 1 to carry every day for multiple years, i would choose Churchill as i feel i would get more EDC milage out of it, which in fact is probably my most carried GEC.

will try to include some photos in a bit. EDIT: nope i got no good photos at the moment.

Even though I do not prefer the aesthetics of the Churchill as much as some other patterns, i would be perfectly happy with carrying one.

I was warming up to the Possum Skinner but the thin blades probably knocks it out of contention. Thanks for that assessment jrawk.

Gotta contemplate on this. The Churchill is very close to a Calf Roper (that I have several of) without the spey blade. The Bull Moose seems to be a real step up in size and robustness so at this moment I am leaning towards that.

Hmmmmm

I have both and I much prefer the Churchill. I find the bull moose too big in the pocket. Also, if I have a two bladed knife on me I like having a large and small blade for the versatility that it gives. I have about 20 GEC knives and the bull moose is the only one that I have ever considered selling. If you like a bigger pocket knife the bull moose is excellent though.

I have all 3 and carry the churchill most of all. I have snapped the tip off the same warncliff blade on my Dixie stockman, it's a sheepsfoot now ;). The spring on the churchill is thicker than the possum skinner and my pull is a 6.

I have both in stag, a great material for texture and grippyness. I modified my Moose to have the same blade arrangement as the Churchill, and for its larger size I carry it a lot at work. For dressier occasions I go with the Churchill, as it is smaller and thinner.

I have all three. The possum skinner is long, but VERY light and "it will cut." The moose is big and strong and makes a good work knife. The Churchill is kinda the "goldilocks" of the three- carries well and has two strong and useful blades.
