GEC clasp knife would be awesome

This one is 4 7/8" closed. It's a pretty wife knife too with extra thick liners. Zero blade rub on any of the blades I think in part because of the big brass liners.

I think for historical reasons it would be cool if they made a Marlin spike, I don't necessarily see the use for one though.

Awesome JT!! That is a big knife period. I may need to check them out I love BIG folders:D

GEC has strayed away from bigger knives. I do not this happening anytime soon as most all their product is SFO these days. If a SFO was commissioned then that might be a different story. But they have not made the Sunfish,Whaler, Lumberjack, Roughneck for several years now?
I believe there is more work involved in these bigger boys that does not seem to be as profitable as the bigger sellers.... We can always keep our fingers crossed... A knife that would be in the 4 1/2" range and GEC has not produced folders like that for quite awhile now.

My WW2-vintage British clasp knife (like most of the ones Luke shows) is 3 3/4" long counting the screwdriver extension on the centre liner, 3 5/8" if you don't. That's the same as a 91mm SAK. From the look of them, the Camillus rigger's knives were about the same length but slimmer, and the Rough Rider version is almost a clone of the Camillus.

They are heavy beasts by nature, because of the big solid-steel spike, but they aren't really outside the normal range of GEC knives.

You know what would be really great: if they replaced the Marlin Spike with a Caplifter!

BOOM!

The Rope Scout???

I could see this with a GEC stamp on it....

Fair enough iSaur... 3 3/4'' is not outside GEC range at all. I suppose when I think of these type knives there are (2) sizes if you will. This one is early 20th century vintage by challenge cutlery. It measures without bail 4 7/8" It is this size that I believe reaches the larger folders. Who knows if GEC would take one like this on? If they did I would be in for sure. It is this pattern with this size that would be very interesting in a riggers style knife:D
