I did not know that there was a story behind the Primitive Bone scales. I thought it was just a name. Nothing mind-blowing, but may be of interest to some.

Looks good, Rick . Primitive bone is one of my favorite GEC scale materials. I was somewhat concerned about its durability at first, but mine is holding up very well. I think the "special process" they refer to on the label is basic stabilization; a fairly standard treatment for soft and/or porous natural materials that injects resin into the pores under very high pressure. I found it a little surprising at first that they charge almost as much for Primitive bone as they do for burnt stag, so they definitely consider it to be a premium material. It's certainly unique looking, and no one else offers anything quite like it, AFAIK.

Thanks, Rick.

One other thing I noticed about the Primitive Bone is that the texture and color varies a lot from one knife to another. I had the privelage of being able to pick from 12 Primitive Bone Dogleg's and each knife looked quite a bit different than the others. Anywhere from pale white to deep brown colors and I don't even know how to describe the different textures. It was fun choosing the one I wanted but it was a very tough decision because they all had different characeristics that I liked.

That Primitive Dog Leg Bone (well you know what I mean....) looks like one of the nicest production knives I've seen for quite a while! Outstanding choice. Very beautiful looking in fact, just hope they put out one with Spear/Longpull too.

Nice one, Grant!

I think my next GEC will be something in either Burnt Stag or Genuine Stag. I love the looks of GEC Stag.

I'm quite impressed with it. The fit and finish is spot on. The scales are matched up as well as you could want. I'm starting to annoy my wife asking her to look at the details that Northfield nailed.:)

I pulled the trigger on a gec dogleg jack yesterday and anxiuosly awaiting it's arrival. This will be my first GEC, looking forward to seeing what all the talk is about. I ordered the antique weaved jigged bone one.:D

i haven't purchased a slippie in a while
the dogleg jack has me interested again (either ebony, or that awful gold acrylic)
post pics when you get it!

Today is a great day. I just recieved my dog leg jack from GEC and man is this knife awesome. I have heard and read so much about these knives so I decided to purchase one and see for myself. Let me just say that I've never owned a knife of this quality f&f is great nice walk and talk, and the pull is about a 6 on both blades. It has beautiful jigged bone handles that are almost black in the center and aged white on the edges. I would post a pic but I don't have the means to. I forsee this one being in my pocket for a long time to come. Now I will probably be ordering more from them.

My #56 Ebony Spear came in today. The spear lighter than the clip. It was sharper out of the tube than the clip blade. I also like how the spear blade doesn't have as an aggressive down turn like the clip does.

That ebony spear is beautiful. I'm probably gonna have to pull the trigger on one of those real soon.

I picked up a #56 Dogleg in Ivory bone a while back all I can say is this an excellent pattern that's just about perfect for an edc knife.

Both are Northfield, I just did a little bit
of "stuff " to them both.lol :D

Must have purchased at least a dozen different GEC models over the last 3 Months or so. The last one I received was a #56 clip,I love this model!
Its ergonomic and perfect for edc. :D

I just picked up an ebony with a clip. F/F on this knife is in my opinion superior to any of the other production brands. Blade grinds are straight, no gaps or blade wobble, pinned shield, smooth walk and talk, half sunk joints, the whole nine yards. slightly light in weight, but feels tough. Fits nice in the pocket.
