Does anyone know with the early reserve, if you already have one reserved and then decide to add another, does it "reset your spot in line" so to speak for the one you originally reserved where you could end up missing out on both?

I think that each variant has a queue of its own. Your place in line is held when you select a particular variant and has no effect on your place in line for another variant. I could be wrong.

Reservations are done by particular Dealers. Each has their own policies. These policies may vary from Dealer to Dealer. The best thing to do is Communicate with your Dealer of choice. There is no hard and fast GEC Rule.

Thanks. My original post was in another thread and moved here. It was in reference to the upcoming run of 85s, which are an SFO for a single dealer. At least to my knowledge this is the only dealer who does early reservations, but that doesn't really matter since they are the only one getting 85s this run.

You might want to ask GEC directly. The best way to get an answer like this is straight from the makers.

There are at least THREE Factory Authorized Distributors who do Early Reservations on GEC Regular Runs and some SFO's.

It depends on the dealer who has your reservation - some have an online system where you can modify reservations till they are locked down while some accept reservations via emails (the announcements are typically made on their blogs). While some require upfront full-payment for their SFO (special factory order), which is equivalent to reserving the knife. The list of dealers is found on GEC's website. I don't have anything but very good experience with all GEC dealers.

Good to know. I was only aware of Collector Knives. Either way, I don't think this really ever justified a thread if you want to close this. Just a simple question in another thread trying to decide if I should add another knife to my 85 pre-order. I will just check with CK.

Curious how this turned out for you? I screwed mine up and had to email Mike. I had a amber on reserve and decided later in the day to add a bloodwood. When I added the bloodwood somehow I lost the amber. When I went in to fix it I got locked out because I exceeded the number of changes. I got it worked out with Mike, but for future reference wanted to know how it went.

I ended up just sticking with the one I had reserved. Didn't want to miss that one.

It was quite humorous when I first started doing Early Reserves, because I took several jabs from other dealers that ridiculed putting names on knives before they were ever made. As the system became more popular, there were other variations of reservations that showed up. Not to sound like I have a big-head over the topic, just was funny the iterations it has gone thru. But the OP's question would only make sense in relation to CollectorKnives Early Reserve system. A lot of work has went into the system to insure there were no "good ole boy" allocations going on. There is no problem backing out on a reservation up until the knives are in transit. And we never take a dime until there is a knife to put your name on.

But there are other dealers that have some variation of a reservation system; and they are all stand-up folks.

Thanks, I didn't want to back out, just wanted to add a second knife and didn't know if that would possibly hurt me getting the one I already had reserved now that it isn't available to reserve.

In my opinion, you by far have the best early reserve system. I really appreciate not having to sit at the computer and refresh every minute for a knife to pop up that I want to buy. Seems like most people have some type of early reserve...posted or not. Sometimes it's an email or call, but I don't feel as confidante as I do with yours.

If you just go to a product reservation page and make the one selection you want to add and click submit; you are good to go. You can then click "Load" and see all reservations for that run.
