GEC Farm and Field 99

So when Mike does his 99s i am guessing we will get a run of standard 99s?
I have always wanted a knifebrite!

I hope they release more 99's. After watching the ApostleP's video I immediately bought this one, it was my first GEC, and its the one that started my addiction...

Thanks Dwight. It is good to see another run of 99's coming. I do hope that this means more F&F 99s too, as I always liked the clean lines of the F&F version over the more fancy 99's.

I am also hoping they release some more F&F 99's. It would be super cool if they did a run of them in the O1 steel.

That's not likely to happen. When they dropped 01 for the #71 Bull Nose Work Knives, quite a howl went up but to no avail.

Does anyone know definitively if GEC has decided to nix the "sunbrite" acrylic from any future production? Am I the only fan of that handle material?

How is the lockup on the #99's?
Is there vertical play like the #83's, or is it better?

The lockup and up and down play on 99 F&F’s are way better than any other GEC lockbacks that I have owned.
One of my nifebrights is rock solid and the other one and the micarta one have just a bit of up and down.
Compared to my 72 it is nothing.

I would like to see another run of these as they are very nice cutting knives.

ha. i just came across this thread as i was posting my "looking for..." threads. i have had a maroon and orange GEC 99 F&F in the past. i gave away the maroon and sold the orange. i regret both decisions. :D

i have discovered (too late) that this is my favorite traditional pattern. i like a lockback, and the thickness of the scales really makes it feel good in-hand. i recall they had a solid lockup.

thanks for the thread.

EDIT: two more things:
1) i had no idea that so few pieces were made. no wonder i cannot find any.;)
2) i saw the posts about the sodbuster style knives. while i like the bullnose knives, i definitely prefer the spear point blade. for me, that is a trait that makes me continue to look for these Farmer Lock patterns.
