GEC Furtaker Trapper - Yellow Rose

Hey .41Dude, or PuukkoGuy, or ..... ???? :D - Thanks for the link! Great pics posted there - truly captures the Yellow Rose color. I'm loving mine!

After only a few days, I must say the color is really growing on me, plus I love smooth bone anyway, and the shield is really cool, and I can state unequivocally that you, my friend, NEED one of these!:thumbup::thumbup::D:D:D

You are SOOOOOOO bad ;) :D :D

I was .41Dude long ago. Now I am PuukkoGuy on the other forums.

I went away from handguns a few years ago and into slippies.

Thought they would be a cheaper (and still fun) hobby.

WOW was I wrong :o  :D :D

If the serial # on the YRF is available I am ordering one Monday. Pretty.

Hope you are having a nice Sunday

I think you'll be pleased with it! ;)

Let me know when you get the shorter pouch and if it works for the Furtaker!

Having a great Sunday, here! Happy Easter to you, too!

NOOOOOOOOOOO

I ordered the Yellow Rose Furtaker. (darn you coyote711 ;) )

I hope to get the SAK pouch in the mail today. I will get some in hand shots

if it works for the Furtaker.

Have to go, time for toast and Spam :D

you guys are so crazy. but i certainly understand your ectasy because when my yellow rose furtaker arrived i was so impressed i picked up the phone & ordered another identical knife. mentioned to the provider that "that knife is so good looking that it needs a brother"a great choice for all of us which may become a gec classic.

Boy, talk about the pot calling the kettle black! :D

But wait .......... maybe ordering a second one isn't such a crazy idea!

BTW Dennis, I place a large amount of the "blame" for my GEC fascination squarely on your shoulders, due to all your posts and comments over the past few months! I'm poorer because of that, but I'm also richer! ;)

I just ordered a scout because I wanted something smaller. I hope it has the same pull as the furtaker. If not, another one will be ordered. I love GEC, but a very sharp knife and their pull sometimes do not mixed.

Joe, didn't you buy a smooth natural bone #73 Scout from me a while back??? Or are you getting a 2 blade one this time?

IIRC, that Scout pulled quite a bit stiffer than the Furtaker.

Not to beat a dead horse (but I'm gonna anyway ;)), I love this Furtaker because to me it opens & closes just like any other knife with a decent backspring. And I'm totally surprised how well this 4 1/8" knife carries in my pocket, although I may try a belt pouch, depending on what .41Dude finds out about the one he ordered.

You can find some really nice belt pouches AND pocket pouches over at Knives Ship Free. I am not shilling for Knives Ship Free. I have no interest in them what-so-ever. Jut saying where you can get some nice sheathes/pouches.

You guys were talking above about one of your sheathes being too long for the knife you wanted to carry. When I run across that situation, I sometimes put something in the bottom of the sheath so as to make the knife ride higher in the sheath. A piece of plastic (nylon, dacron, etc.) works well. You can buy a length of nylon rod at a hardware store and saw off a small piece for this purpose. In order to accomodate different width sheaths, I keep ¼", ½" ,¾" and 1" diameter rods on hand. In a pinch, you can even use a nut.

That Yellow Rose Furtaker Trapper of the Original Poster sure is one great looking knife.

I use a KSF Leather sheath for my GEC Big Jack. Should work well with the FT.

I still have the white bone, but the boycote looked so nice, I couldn't resist. This one is a liner lock so we shall see.

What bad Influences you guys are. I fed my addiction with another from the GEC list myself this weekend.

I had my eye on a moose so it's on order; but from everything I've read and seen a Furtaker should be next.

coyote711 This pouch works great for the Furtaker.

Thanks .41Dude - that's good to know! Thanks also to the other gents for the KSF idea! I've had smaller knives that weighed less than this FT, but that I couldn't/wouldn't pocket carry because they felt like a lump of lead in my pocket. I must still be in the infatuation stage with this knife because it feels just fine in the pocket, or maybe I'm just slowly adapting to larger knives. At any rate, it's sure a fine feeling hunk of knife in the hand! ;)

p.s. to Jenner: your next knife: FURTAKER! :D

You're right.

I have my sights set on the Black/Gold acrylic Furtaker. Next Payday, so within the next two weeks.

Just a guess. ;)

Let us know how you like it compared to the Moose & Pioneer! Will this be your first acrylic?

Not the first acrylic, my moose that came in on Wednesday was a cracked marble acrylic.

It's smoooooth.
