GEC Geppetto pattern mock up

It's a reversed 56 pattern, so it's 3 1/2".

If they didn't scale down the size. They assigned a new pattern number (570311) and maybe it's wishful thinking but I'm hoping that it is smaller than the dogleg. The dogleg is one big lump to carry around in a pants pocket. I prefer to carry it in a coat pocket. ...you're probably right though. It's probably the same size.

Here's a photo of the 56 and 33 patterns for comparison of size.

It's certainly possible that there is a size difference between the #56 & #57. The #61 Half Congress and #62 Easy Pocket Congress are slightly different from each other in size and bolster shape even though they are similar patterns. I guess it just depends on how much needs to be changed before a new number is assigned.

Any predictions on the 85??
As Trand already stated, it's a Teardrop pattern that is the base for the 2011 Easy Open forum knife. It has also been hinted that some non EO versions of the pattern will be made in the future.

They are starting to come out. I will wait to see the Northfield treatment, but this one looks pretty good...

I really like the promise this shows, but strangely for me I'm not caring for the coping blade, but loving the small clip.

As Whittlers go this looks like a good one, especially since I would use the coping and small clip blades the most (for whittling). The main blade looks fine for general use.
I like it. I probably would not carry it. From my limited experience most GECs are a bit too chunky for me regardless of how well they are built. Still, they nailed the pattern from a user point of view. It's a whittler on steroids with a perfect blade selection and frame IMO.
A bit off topic but I wish they would make a 56/ 66 with a single blade and one spring. That would be just right.

I'm liking this design. Seems very well laid out for a user knife. I would love to see them make this into a single spring model and lose the coping blade. It would make it into a poor man's Case/Bose Norfolk knife - which I would love to see.

I was going to get one but it's a bit too pricey for me, plus I already have several knives that will do the same job. I'm also not a big fan of 1095, especially in the $100+ price range for a production folder.

The jigged bone version looks OK, not so keen on the other variants though.

GEC can be burly but I find the 56 to work very well in the pocket. Interestingly, the wood ones are lighter than their bone equivalent.

The 56 DOES come in a single blade version: An EZ-Open model with Pruner style blade, regarded as light in terms of weight too.

You know, when I see a knife I am interested in that has a lower than my expected price I think 'so what's the catch'? And when I see one over my price point i think 'why so expensive'?... I can't win.

Now we're talkin' :D
