GEC has updated their website with a new #16 Canoe pattern. No info on the closed length, but I'd bet its somewhere in the 3 1/2" range.

Interesting! I'm not a fan of the Canoe, but it is good to see GEC expanding their catalogue of pattterns. Wonder if it will be single or double spring?

Oh dear... that will be hard for me.

One thing that would make it even harder for me to resist would be if they made their spear point a bit more asymetrical, more like the old Ulsters.

Love the canoe pattern but am afraid that one doesn't have big enough handle bumps (is there a name for those?) to hide the tangs, which is one of the best features of the pattern to me. I hope I'm wrong about that.

I was pretty curious about this pattern. Personally, I hope it has two springs, but we'll see. A Canoe was my first multibladed traditional, so this pattern has a special place for me :)

a canoe is on my short list, have to see a more finished prototype though but at least it doesnt have a wharnie thrown in it:rolleyes:
i like the looks so far

Would love to snag one of these in either Ebony or Cocobolo.

Not that there's anything wrong with my Queen single spring canoe (knocks on wood), but I would like to see this model use two springs. Nice to see either way.

Like several others, a canoe is not my favorite pattern, but depending on how this turns out I may get one. Looks good so far!

plus 1 for asymmetrical spear blades.

Uh-oh, off to the GEC site...only have one 'real' Canoe (Case) and a Cannitler (CSC). I'm curious to see GEC's take.

I've been waiting for this one. From the looks of things it the bolsters don't have a very exaggerated rise above the main flank of the scales, I hope the ends of the blades are still properly sunk.

there is now.

apologies-slow connection.

Nice, yep, I'll be in for one of those. While I seem to prefer a stockman pattern, I do like the slimness of my Case Canoe. A single spring should be nice, thank you for the info Mike.
