steelsnob stag does usually come quite a bit thicker than wood, maybe later i can show a side profile later to give a perspective. some things about stag & gec in particular i've noticed. stag has been a favorite as long as knives have been produced. ivory in the 1800s & early 1900s was a choice on premium pieces but even early on ivory was always expensive.gec ships the shields in tube separately on the labeled genuine stag. personally i'm not sure the gen. stag will command a much higher price in future. collector interest if there will dictate gen. stag prices. really i've seen burnt stag pieces which i consider more attractive than gen. stag.most gecs in burnt stag command 45$ to 55$ more in the same pattern, that's a lot of money.in my photo the stags are as listed from top down l to r.burnt--burnt--burnt--gen.--burnt--gen.--burnt--burnt--gen.--gen.--burnt--gen. elk. thanks for the interest.
