I can't for the life of me figure out why GEC decided to put the shield off center on the #66??
I'm a big fan of non-symmetrical things, and I guess the off centered shield plays well with the non-symmetrical nature of the Stockman pattern.

Placed in that manner, there's less chance of pin cracks. Early on they put the shields dead center on many of the 53 cigar frames.

looks like normal stockman placement to me, my Case medium stockman has a similar placement as does the jumbo

Looks good to me. I've got that very knife on order (Blood Red Bone). Shoot it from a different angle so we can give it another look.

I own three GEC #66s and on every knife, the shield is of centered... that depends on the pattern you have. On my GEC #33 the shield is centered. But on the #73 it isn´t, too. ;) Don´t worry!

What he said, theres not much room on some of those smaller patterns and you just cant get it too close to those pins.

I think it's just for variation rather than pin cracking.
The Tidioute White Owls are centre pinned, so too the 26 Pocket Sunfish UNXLD and that has four pins.
