GEC Monsters!

My Tidoute Ebony Stockman (53 pattern) is a pocketful - but worth it. Since I only carry it on the weekends in a pocket sheath I don't mind the weight or the length. My weekday EDCs are a bit thinner but not really smaller (just slightly shorter) ... GEC Toothpicks and Powderhorns. And, hopefully an S&M F&W Gunstock single blade jack in the near future. I like bigger folders - but to each his own. The Buck medium stockman is the EDC of choice where I live - a fine knife in it's many variations ... just too small for my tastes.

I like the larger sized GEC knives. My #42 finds itself in my front right pocket a lot. I do carry it in a KSF slip pouch. That really helps it stay in place and upright in my pocket.

Those KSF pouches seem likes they're custom made to fit the 42. Great combo.

They fit like a glove for sure. I need to make a slip pouch this weekend for my 2012 BladeForums GEC. Something that nice needs a pouch.

Get a Lumberjack or Whaler. Then you're #54 won't seem so big anymore...

I need to put a GEC trapper pic together... #23, #73, #48 and #74.

this thread makes me chuckle because I was just thinking yesterday about how much I'd love a supersized #33 Conductor. I've got the CK one with ebony and a coping blade, and a giant framed version with an upscaled primary clip but retaining the coping blade's original size would give you a hell of a lot of utility... plus you would still have the genteel nature that I feel that design offers.

Gonna put that in a letter to Santa right away :D

AWESOME LUMBERJACK!!! Like a Woodworkin whaler:D
I love GEC but my complaints more than the sizes has been the wharnie blades in everything, to each his own i just dont get it... and i like my wharnie Seahorse Whittler, it fits the aesthetic of the knife and just looks right... but In a barlow, etc. as a primary blade just doesnt appeal to me
Gene

Thanks Gene. I like the Lumberjack and its single blade brother more than I thought I would. I've been thinking about adding a "more pocketable" Elephant's Toenail to the collection.

For Dave, I took some quick pics of the #45 with a #23 Trapper and a #53 Cattle Rancher which I believe is the same thickness/size as the Cattle Baron.

Wow! Now that is a chunky group!

Buy an Opinel #13. In a week, you'll be wishing for a bail on your 54 so you can put that tiny thing on your keychain.
