I'd go with the pony jack.... both nail nicks on the same side, which is my preference in a jack knife.... the 68's are a very hand-friendly, comfortable size.
Absolutely not. Sheffield Jack is classier, slimmer, Pony Jack is simplier, thicker (at least it looks like it, I only have a White Owl version which is thinner because of single back spring). 68 has smaller main blade, but is a bit bigger overall (paradox). Not to mention that they have different frames. It all depends on what you need, be more specific on your preferences, please.Same knife basically but not.
I want something that will carry and use. Give to kid one day. I’m no expert on blades or sharpening and read that a spear is harder to sharpen. I like the wood of the pony but have not held the pioneer bone in hand. Have an opportunity to trade straight up for the 39 so undecidedAbsolutely not. Were you able to get that issue with your #68 resolved?I want something that will carry and use. Give to kid one day. I’m no expert on blades or sharpening and read that a spear is harder to sharpen. I worked the shot out of it. It seems to be firing better. Still a soft close but not staying up nearly as muchWere you able to get that issue with your #68 resolved?
Pony Jack doesn’t have a half stop. That’s a deal breaker for a lot of people. It’s a very nice knife though. I’d take it over the pioneer bone 39 only because I prefer the clip blade.
if the pony jack had a half stop, it might be quite a contender...
Thought the clip blade was the selling point of the knifeThis is funny to mejust goes to show we all have different tastes. I used to like halfstops, now I much prefer a cam tang. Not that a half stop kills a knife for me. But I don't prefer them. In this case it's hard to chose between the two. In my case I would pony jack because I have a bunny knife and a Sheffield is on the same frame. I have a pony Jack and carry it quick often. The small main clip is one of the big downsides to it.
