GEC opinion

This is funny to me 🤣 just goes to show we all have different tastes. I used to like halfstops, now I much prefer a cam tang. Not that a half stop kills a knife for me. But I don't prefer them. In this case it's hard to chose between the two. In my case I would pony jack because I have a bunny knife and a Sheffield is on the same frame. I have a pony Jack and carry it quick often. The small main clip is one of the big downsides to it.

for me the pony jack was a want, but it was on the backburner as it wasnt a must have, so I waited patiently. when the opportunity came, i snagged a mint one with the oil still on it for near retail. funny enough, a very good modder did a delete and a shield on a pony jack and offered it to me. Couldnt refuse it. I actually do enjoy the equal ends pattern and my collection does feature a few and always has a spot for more. The modder really fine tuned the action, excellent walk and talk. Its a real testament of his abilities. Shame he no longer does mod work I hear.

Do you have a photo of that knife Jack?

Thought the clip blade was the selling point of the knife
I mean yes and no. It's not bad by any means. I love my pony jack. Don't think I'm disparaging it in the least.

It's just made an 1/8th inch shorter than the clips on other similarly sized knives. But that's more due to it being a cigar frame.

Awesome

GEC 68 pony Jack vs GEC 39 Sheffield. Wood vs pioneer bone, clip vs spear. Same knife basically but not. What is the preferred choice?
For me, they both fill the same ecological nitch (along with the 66 jack), and are my preferred edc size and styles so I require several of each. If I had to choose one, my head would probably just explode. I have them in both pen and clip mains, and I prefer the clip on these.

Time to put this pony jack to work. You guys carry and/or recommend I use a slip for this guy?
That’s up to you. It won’t hurt the knife at all if you just throw it in your pocket, it’s made from all steel construction.

and that cocobolo will wear dark with the handling in time. enjoy the knife, dont worry so much about it.
