GEC "Redneck" Out,

I've seen a picture of the redneck with black handles, thought it was a "frankenstein" model someone put together. Either that or a "odds and ends" knife that GEC sometimes does...

I saw that Mike over at Collectorsknives.net had some of the black redneck farm tool for sale about a month ago. I missed out, they went quick.

I just noticed the photos at the bottom of the announcement... were those there previously??? I'm not sure how I missed them. It looks like the pivot will be marked "F & F ☆ USA ☆". I wouldn't mind a plain pivot but I like the stars.

Yeah, they have been there, but I didn't notice them until I was reading the last lines of the page myself. I'm really exited to see the finished product, but I would have preferred a plain pivot as well.

I am pretty pleased this afternoon as I just went and stopped by my PO Box and my new #71 was sitting there waiting for me..

I am really liking this good & stout GEC brand Sod-Buster much better than any of my weaker Case, Boker or Eye brands Soddy's..

The half-stop was quite a nice surprise and not expected, but a classy and welcome touch..

So I hit her with some CRC on the joint, back-spring and blade when I got back to the home-20, and now she is ready for hard use double duty!.

Nice surprise to come home to! Thank you for the shot taken of the backspring, it really helps me to gauge the dimensions of this thing.

Could you explain how, relatively speaking of course, the other sodbusters you own are weaker compared to the #71?

Hm... I hope they will sell them in overseas at some time... but it doesn´t seem to happen :(

Nice knife Anthony. I'm' sure you'll like it as much as I do mine. That'll make a good Florida knife and a bood bait knife on a boat. Just keep it oiled and there should be no problems with rust, etc..

Dead Fall - The GECs are more robust than other brands. Here are some comparison pics of the Red Neck against the Case Sod Buster. The little Case Sod Buster is a pretty tough knife though. It'll take some doing by the Red Neck to knock the Case out of the ring.

Modec ED, I appreciate the comparison! A good friend of mine let me play around with his sodbuster when he asked me if it was a good knife, so the side-by-side has gotten me exited since it seems to have everything the Case was lacking.

Well, I'm not going to toss my Case Sod Buters anytime soon. They've been good workers. The Cases are a 1/4" shorter and some will say it's an advantage over the GEC Red Neck for pocket carry but not enough for me to give the nod to one over the other. If anyone is into lanyard holes, that's the major advantage of the GEC over the case.

I really liked the Case when I handled it, I actually was about to hit the buy button before I saw the 71 was being produced again. I must apologize if I came off as saying that the Case's were junk, I did not intend to hint at anything other than how much better the 71 seems to have what I wish the case had (Lanyard hole, slightly larger handle, and a ever so slightly better point).

Ed, the more I look at the comparison shots between the #71 and the Case Soddie, the more I feel the #71 would just be better (for me). The round butt is one aspect, It would be more pocketfriendly than. The blade shape is nearly the same; the tip of the #71 seems to be much my cup of tea.

Thank you, Sir for the information and the nice comparison shots :)

Kind regards
Andi

Hmmmm. Is it the orange or the black that catches your eye?

Thats where I picked up the black RNFT that I got, I think it was an odds and ends knife. Pivot has the "Redneck" stamp but the blade just says Great Eastern Cutlery

I have both a Sodbuster Jr and a Bullnose, personally I prefer the ergonomics of the Bullnose and I also like the option of attaching a lanyard. The Case is a great knife though and was less than half the price.
