Well I have owned this #23 GEC since new in 2007. I noticed around Christmas of this past year that the buffalo handles were pulling loose from the liners and even causing the liners to bend a bit as well. Long story short, I sent Chris an email at GEC and told her of my problem. She said to send it back and they would see what they could do. The other day I got another email from her, telling me that I needed to pick another handle material because Bill Howard felt that we might run into this same problem again if we didn't go with a different handle. I said bone, they said yes! The rest is history, very happy with the outcome and it looks even better to me now that it has Calico bone on it. Thank you Bill and Christine for doing it right! Would like to thank Barry, aka GunstockJack, for pointing me in the right direction to start with!

Nice to hear.

That bone looks fantastic, really changes the character of the knife, both ways look good, but I like the bone better

That looks really good - sounds like they took care of you. Great customer service!

It is great that they took care of you!!
Looks super, Perry - way better, IMO!

Very nice looking bone, Perry! It's so nice to hear of such exceptional customer service:thumbup::thumbup:

Customer service doesn't get much better than that! I also think it looks better now than it did before.

Thank you Stephen, Gev and jkulysses! I asked Christine to use the most colorful calico they could. I think they did good.
I had always heard GEC was great with customer service, thinking I would never have an issue with one of my own 20 or so GEC knives, but now I can honestly attest to this fact.

Wade, these earlier Trappers were pretty tight at first however this one has become pretty smooth over the last couple of years. I do have a few of the first runs from 2006 that are about an 8 or 9 on the pulls. You gotta be careful with them, they'll cut ya before ya know it!

Perry,
Your rehandled knife has a nice warm look to it.
Bill, Christine and the G.E.C. Craftsmen and Craftswomen make a EXCELLANT KNIFE that we can be proud to carry.

I really love the original horn handles, but calico bone is great, you'll find that it will mellow very nicely over time taking on a buttery finish a little like old stag.
