Picked up the package at the PO this morning, grabbed a coffee to go, and went straight back home to dig in. Used the Izula to open up the box. Must be a 1095 thing. ;)

Looks pretty good. Let's take it out to the lightbox for some detail shots.

Slim in name, slim in nature.

Couple closeups of the walnut bone (looks and feels nice) and the endcap.

Opened up and close shot of the blade.

Lookin' good...got a weight on it?

Seems even slimmer when compared to the thick blade on the gunstock. I tend to forget how much of a hoss that one is for a 3.5" knife.

I am quite pleased with the slim trapper out of the box. Everything is nicely fitted. Walk & talk is right on. The pull is maybe a 5 out of 10. Easy to open but still has a nice snap on closing. All the stops are crisp. The spring peeks up a hair in the open position, just enough to catch a fingernail, no big deal for me. Once I get the edge squared away this will be a mean slicer, so I'm looking forward to some Sharpmaker time.

All in all, a very nice way to get back in the GEC fold. :)

I Love Trappers!!!...thank you for puttting these photos up...
A real nice looking knife!! ( and real good photos too!)
How did you find the sharpness of the blade from factory?

You didn't ask me, but these run from 1.9 to 2.1 oz depending on handle material, at least based on my samples.

Thanks, Eric!
(You never need an invitation from me to jump in. Your input is always appreciated.)

Wanted to get an idea of how it compared to the one slim trapper I own currently, a Queen "Utility" in cocobolo @ 1.75 ounces. So they compare very favorably!

Don't have my postal scale anymore to weigh it and don't recall seeing one listed when I was shopping around. I would guess around 2 ounces. It has decent heft in hand when closed. Feels lighter when open.

Also wanted to mention it has a nice point. Should be good for piercing or scoring paper/cardboard.

Duncan - sharpness was about what I expected on a GEC. Not going to shave or pushcut anything, really not even scraping armhair.

Mike - yes, there is a half stop.

Eric - thanks for the weight figure. Guess my guess was pretty good. ;)

Eric, or anyone else who has both, is the blade on this about the same length and width as the Northfield "Toothpick"? That's the only GEC I have and the blade (profile) seems near identical.

Thanks!

Very nice knife. That oughta ride easily and un-noticed in your pocket.

They do look very similar in profile, however, in comparing mine, the toothpick is wider and shorter than the slimline trapper.

Toothpick 7.6 cm long from the bolster. 6.7 cm cutting edge.
Trapper 8.0 cm long from the bolster. 7.1 cm cutting edge.

Toothpick 1.5 cm tall (at start of edge)
Trapper 1.2 cm tall (at start of edge)

That is a nice one. Great pics. The Walnut bone comes out much nicer in your pics than any of the other I've seen.
