Quick question, in regards to GEC branded knives with 440C blades, what sort of steel do they use for the springs, stainless or carbon? And are the liners stainless or something else? Thanks.

Q

not completely sure on the backsprings but the liners are brass

i would think they would be stainless because they use carbon on their carbon blades

The springs on 440c knives are stainless but I don't recall exactly what steel. The liners are usually brass.

I just took the tour the other day, and I believe Mr. Howard said the springs were of the 420 realm of SS.
I forget things so quickly though that I could be mistaken. :D

Thanks guys, i guessed SS, but wasn't sure. I'd love to take a tour of GEC, be great to see how they build 'em there.
