Just got a GEC Tidoute #25 Barlow in Cameo Bone

I am so pleased with this knife!
How it looks and how it carries and cuts.

It is a nothing knife to carry, very slim and light and does not notice in my pocket. It is quite understated to look at.

The bone is beige with a slight pink tint to it. Very plain to look at, until you play with it in the light. The bone has a grain to it, with some darker lines in it, very subtle to see.

The blade was stiff, with strong springs, and difficult to open (close to nail breaking). I sat and worked it open and closed with oil on the joints, and have loosened it up. There is just enough meat on the blade by the nail nick to pinch it open.

I brassoed off the ink from the lazer etch, and am building up a nice patina.

It came with obtuse angled equal factory grinds, but nothing to do with what the blade can give. I rebeveled the blade just as I do with all my Queen D2s. I rebeved using the DMT Jig, getting some very acute angles.
It is very sharp, and cuts very well.

The size in the hand for such a small 3" knife is suprising, there is enough handle to grip well. The short blade is compensated for by its width and sturdyness. It is noticable thinnner than the double bladed #25s.

All in all a very successful working knife

I've looked at those barlows for a while now. Love the bolsters on those. I wish they'd do that on the ez opens.

I just ordered this one last night, came to this forum and found your thread. Now I can't wait for it to arrive!

Hi,

A very nice piece neeman! Barlows are so nice.

I've got an UN-X-LD in buffalo horn. The #25's are quite the little chunk in your hand. The #25 is 3" long, BarberFobic1992 and has quite a heavy duty feel in your hand. It's a real hard work knife if you want to use it for such.

One thing I like about them is they are rounder in profile than a more slab sided traditional Barlow. Gives a nicer feel when you use it I think.

I have quite a few GEC's and as far as I am concerned they make the best production run folders!
