My uncle literally just GAVE me what seems to be multiple crates full of slipjoint folding knives and fixed blades. I knew he collected knives, but I had no idea he had so many. He said "some of these are worth money and some probably aren't, and some are in better condition than others."

The first box I opened was full of old style fixed blades. Some had rust and were clearly used, and some looked new, but I had no idea what I was looking at. Camillus was the only name I recognized.

The SECOND box was much more interesting. Completely full of what seem to be new, unused Schatt & Morgan, Northfield, Queen Cutlery, and Tidioute Cutlery. I have definitely heard of those. They all have boxes/tubes and are usually rolled up in what looks like wax paper. Many if not all are numbered, or say limited edition, and at least one has a certificate of authenticity, stating it is a "factory sample". Everything in this box looks pretty clean. Most are dated 2006, 2007 or 2008.

*UPDATE* the bladeforums community has helped me understand what I have here. Thanks all! Below are a few pictures of part of the collection i'll soon be selling. (There are many, MANY more knives) Enjoy!

In short, yes. They’re definitely valuable. How valuable is up for debate. A lot depends on the model and the overall desirability of that specific model. Roughly all of the Northfields/Tidioutes will bring at minimum $100, most likely a little more or quite possibly a lot more. Again, it’s all dependent on how sought after that run is. There’s a lot more experienced eyes than mine, that’s just one part of the mystery I knew I could help with.

One helluva haul, though. Sure wish I had an uncle like that, haha.

good stuff from what I read and saw in the pics. good haul. you got a great uncle with good taste.

That's better than Christmas! Marry his daughter!

I'd love to see them all laid out. The fixed blades too.

Wow....yeah, you did good. Congrats! I would have been stoked just to receive one of those slip joints. A big ol box? Lucky dog;)

Definitely not "Meh" or junk.

Take a peek in the Traditional's sub forum. Those are all popular high end knives.

I will definitely get a pic. After ive sorted through them all and decided what I want to keep, many will be for sale!

I'd say you scored big time.
You did. The GEC knives sell very easily overall if you wish to liquidate them. All you have to do is look at the exchange and see that they generally sell quickly as long as the price is reasonable and condition is good.

They are all definitely "junk', "trash"; however, being the holiday season, I'll give you $50 for the batch (heck, I'll even pay shipping ). Congrats! Be REALLY nice to him, who knows what else he might have collected (hopefully firearms not beanie babies). ;)

yeah, you just got thousands of dollars worth of knives... which meets the definition of a Christmas dream for bf members :)

... you planning to keep it all or sell some here? (I notice you're a gold member) ... I've been looking for a good ironwood or exotic wood from GEC

You are going to sell them?
I don't know you or your uncle but I doubt he gave them to you so you could turn a quick buck.
He and I talk knives every chance we get, but he knows im into more modern stuff. I told him a long time ago that I buy/sell/trade here on the forums. He has no interest in selling his own knives, but he figured i might be able to. His intention was to let me keep what I wanted and sell the rest.
