I keep seeing references to Gen.3 and Gen.4 XM-24s.

I think this is a mistake.

It's my understanding that there are only two generations of XM-24s.

Can anyone confirm this?

Yes only two generations of XM-24's. Mine is a 2012 and I was told that they have a stronger detent but that is BS because I can wrist flick this years XM-24 just like any other. Another case of someone mixing up the XM-18's with the XM-24's. Still love my XM-24 though!

Wrist flick? Heck, one can easily use just your finger to flip open an XM-24, stronger detent or not, that big thick blade flys out on command.

People mix up the XM-18 3.0" and the XM-18 3.5" as well, only two generations of the XM-18 3.0" currently with the third generation being produced now.
