here is my combination. I do not have any big choppers though.
1: Fallkniven F1, LM Fuse and a Bahco 396 JT folding saw (known as Laplander when it is green).

I use the saw on wood up to almost two inches and split them with the knife, and an other piece of wood
If the knife doesnt go through, you could split it from outside and in, almost peeling apart the piece of wood. It is also easier to bend away a smaller piece than half a log.
