General Do's and Don'ts ( One Members Opinion)

First off, I don't speak for Rick or His Crew this is just my opinion.

IF someone has enough interest to check in on the Hinderer Forum they must have a question or an interest in one or more of the Hinderer offerings.
Congratulations! Good choice.
If you have an interest in these fine tools, by all means avail yourself of the joy and own one (or more) you will not regret the decision Also, If you can avail yourself of meeting these guys - do so. You can accomplish that by attending a knife show or registering for a scheduled event at "the Ranch".
Now, some basic house keeping issues...

Please.
- Read the "sticky" it ain't that long and it answers a lot of questions.
- We refrain from discussing Pricing, the Secondary Market, the Business Practices of
Knife Dealers, Makers, other Knife Brands too include comparisons or photos - it's just Bad Manners to do so. After all, when you were out on your first date with Sally Sugarpants did you want to hear about her "X" ? Of course not.
- Fakes, Fakers, Dirtbags - They are out there. We don't need to validate their existence by posting about them, linking to their websites. Those threads are going to be shut down and honestly, your motivation for posting will not serve you well. Just say no.
- Have you ever heard the old saw, " There is no such thing as a dumb question"? If you did you also heard the answer and it was Wrong.
Top right corner "Search" is a great tool. If it bears no fruit, have at it - Ask.
- If we all function as a community/group that shares a genuine regard for ALL things Hinderer none of these things are difficult.

Now I will attempt to speak for more than just me in Thanking BF, Rick, Rob, Mike, Pete (the rest of the Herd) for what they do and the way they do it.
Owning and using a Hinderer makes every day a little better. Thanks.

honestly I dont hang around the hinderer threads so Im not familiar with your codes of conduct.

My last posted thread about the fake was to warn people, not for publicity.

Im sure this topic has been beaten to death now that I think of it but this was the first time I have ever seen one.

Sorry to the mods and everyone else I offended by posting that thread. I guess I wont bother posting in the Hinderer threads anymore with fear of being bombarded by the mods.....
 
I think a Forum is like a house, everybody has a couple things they prefer be done or not done. I have a buddy that everybody takes their shoes off before going in, another if you smoke you go outside. No Big Deal, better to know than not.
It's all good.

Im sorry for posting that, it just seemed I was trying to do something good and was frowned on like I was condoning the production of fake knives.
 
I assure you that we have absolutely no beef with you posting the thread, we simply don't want it in our forum. The more we talk about it and link to it, especially publicly, we end up driving traffic to them and promoting sales for them. No harm no foul, please continue to contribute and enjoy the forum we don't want you to feel shunned over something like this.

I don't believe Scott was pointing fingers at anyone, he was simply stating some general info that blankets the basics.
 
Roger that. The diversity of contribution is what makes our Forum interesting, informative and Fun. Not a bad deal.
ALL welcome just make sure your feet don't smell:)
 
Would it be okay to ask for an authenticity check by posting photos of a knife in question rather than linking?

I'm not referring to obvious counterfeit goods.

Photos are only going to be as good as the Integrity of the guy behind the camera. If someone is trying to get over on somebody then the photos aren't going to show any telltale signs of the truth.
Best bet is always going to be an approved Dealer, a Show or a reputable source other than the first two mentioned.
The fakes are fairly obvious but when in doubt ..... say no thanks.
I have learned that the hard way believe me.

I agree here with wolf on two counts.

1) Everytime I come on this thread one of the two overlords (you know who you are) is whining and complaining about what one should post and what one shouldnt post. If you arent affiliated with the company, STFU!!! Dont act like you are. You are not a mod. you dont work for hinderer. We all buys the knives. our money is just as good as yours. We dont need mods that arent mods.

2) Wolf was just showing, like they do on other threads some fakes to warn people out there. It doesnt drive up their sales. It gives us a heads up so we dont get burned...maybe we dont want to learn the hard way. Stupidity apparently loves company. Rules rules rules. get over yourselves and just have fun. christ, its like North Korea in this forum. Its a knife forum. REALX!!!
 
Can speak for anybody else "over lord" or not as for my particular post which was prefaced by stating it was merely an opinion but thank you for reminding me of what I included in my preface (not being an employee of the company etc.)
At the time I espoused my opinion there had been at least three (3) threads started "and locked" just on the First two (2) pages of the forum threads referencing fake Hinderers. In those Closed threads it had been said several different ways that it wasn't appreciated, yet the threads/posts kept appearing.
That could be oversight, it could be intentional, it could have been any of the above, no matter - the message had been made clear.
As for STFU, dunno can't comment on that - as for me....not much chance of that happening. As for anyone else, can't think of anyone off the top of my head I'd want to see shutting up. I think the contributions of everybody is quite enjoyable. The activity level in the forum is actually Up, not showing any tell tale signs of being truncated at all.
As for lightening up and having fun. Why would anybody want to have anything other than fun on a great forum addressing their Hobby? I dunno.
IMO, the forum should accomplish several things; Inform, Educate, Problem Solve, Entertain, Be Fun and Foster a sense of Community.
Again, all just my opinion.

You know what? you pick fights with more noobs than anyone else. Go through the threads. Its always you handing down a lesson. Thanks Dad. Ive been on BF for a couple years now and I rarely see a forum bully like yourself thrive except on here. I think "fake" postings are super helpful. If i polled, I bet i would be far from alone on that. People come here to share info and talk about Hinderers. Most new people dont read the stickies. Super sorry. Hinderer is a great company with a great product but come on? For the vets here, knife banter is common place, but most noobs come here to learn 2 things.
1) what all the fuss is about. because these knives are awesome.
2)How to get one without paying a fortune. (and this is forbidden)!!! That is crazy! If hinderer has nothing to do with the secondary market prices, than so be it. Why dont you just let people discuss, because it seems ridiculous to fight with everyone who asks. and you are super rude about it. Smug and condescending. there is no other place to learn where and how to buy these. it seems a little crazy how irate this type of posting makes you guys. I just went through all the locked threads and found you fighting in each one. you pushed away 3 people in just the last week. great forum leader here.

If hinderer doesnt want "fake" posts then so be it, but the people usually think they are doing a favor and i would have to agree. how to you justify that bringing more business to faker sellers. who in their right mind would go to a website and do business with someone selling a fake. that doesnt even make sense.

You prob push as much business away from hinderer as you bring in. News flash, stick to the fluffy knife posts. get off your high horse. seriously bro! we dont need a baby sitter.
 
Rather than make a futile attempt to address your points individually I will do so in general. The rules,rules,rules you alluded too as some form pf oppressive oversight are not rules nor are they mine.
The Hinderer team has politely (more than once) asked that two (2) areas not be discussed in their Forum.
Secondary Market pricing/Dealer Business Practices and Thread postings that discuss/picture/link to Fake Hinderer sites.
Whether you or I think that is appropriate or useful is moot. It is their Forum, their product and they have asked (nicely) to honor their wishes.
Who is picking a fight, bullying or over dramatizing this?
Generally when a position is weak or argumentative the proponent of that argument resorts to personal attacks, name calling and rambling lists of imaginary injustices.
Thank you for crediting me with being influential enough to actually effect the flow of business to or away from the Hinderer product, I believe that is highly over stated and equally unlikely.
I am sorry that you seem to have a problem with my communication style, short of just putting me on ignore I don't know how to help.
I'll close with, I don't recall us having had a specific exchange so I am at a loss as to what exactly has you so upset.
All in all, seems like everybody (almost) is having a good time, if anybody is out of joint over not being able to discuss the two topic areas that have been alluded too, I don't know what to say.

Let me speak for us and what happens here. Scott and nobody else here speaks for Hinderer knives, except for Rick and I. Hammer (Mike Kammer), Ibewno3 (Pete), RDA (Rich), RickV, Scot C, and Rubiconss are friends of ours and we appreciate them having our back day to day. We do things differently, this is business not just an internet forum for us. We don't want the fakes in our forum, it is simple as that. We also don't want secondary market price conversation, they have been discussed to ad naseaum. It ends up being bashing contest, and those are getting bashed are customers of ours, and forum contributors. If you don't like that we have a few rules here, you don't have to participate. I am not sure why it creates drama, it's really simple stuff...........For those that are less inclined to get it, like cappy, don't shit where we eat. We are going to run things our way, until its no longer fun, or Spark doesn't want us here. We want zero drama, this isn't a playground, it is an extention of our business. I will continue to lock nonsense......Like this thread, now.....and like all threads I close, if you have an issue drop me a line.......and if you have beefs with one another, take it up one on one.
