Generation 3 ECWCS

Well, we're back out in the field this week for one of our last deployment readiness exercises. I had to go back through the Rapid Fielding Initiative (RFI) equipment draw and it's the new Generation 3 clothing. My first draw was only the nice black Polartec Fleece jacket and Polartec's excellent silk-weight long johns and other required equipment; not a lot of clothing. Well, this new stuff is actually pretty nice:

Temperatures are pretty mild here in TX, so I try out the wind jacket and soft-shell jacket.

Part of the issue was a Gerber Multitool and Benchmade's seatbelt cutter

Looks good to me Rock6 , I was a pre Gortex solider and am happy for the troops that the equipment appears to be keeping up with technology . Issue wool long johns a cold weather parka and liner and maybe a lineman pliers with knife and sheath and I was a happy camper.

Best part of them fielding new gear is the old stuff hits the shelves for CHEAP.
