Hey,

Did a search for "Quik Clot" on eBay and found someone selling a lot of a generic version (zeolite compound) for cheap.

Anyone know if the generic eBay version actually works? The Z-Medica stuff is 5X the price.

Thanks.

Your only other option is Celox which is made from shrimp shells.

Hemostatic agents are meant to stop traumatic bleeding, I don't suggest you go cheap when it comes to life-or-death situations.

Get generic blood stop powder. We've used it to stop bleeding effectively. It is not sterile but it works great. In the end, what is more important, stopping bleeding or stopping infection? Which will kill you first? For only a few bucks, you get an 8 oz. bottle and can repackage it easily. It is sold in many agricultural/farm stores.

Bleeding out is quick and relatively painless. Death by infection is slow and agonizing. If I had to choose... I'd really like to avoid both, please. Keep in mind, heavyweight painkillers and antibiotics run out fast in a disaster.

When it comes to emergency gear, get the best quality you can get your hands on. Train with it, test it, prove it. Then pack it with a medal of St. Michael, a four-leaf clover, a rabbit's foot and a prayer that you never need to come rushing to get it with sweaty, shaking hands.

God forbid, but if I should ever need to deal with another case of catastrophic bleeding in my life, I'd want the most reliable stuff I could get my hands on...
