I am looking for a somewhat dressy looking fixed-blade knife. It should not be huge, but unobtrusive and wearable. The sheath should stand up to every-day use. Cost should be <60, and of course, it must have a decent blade. Can any of you fine gents provide me with a suggestion?

IMO, you are going to have somewhat of a problem finding a "dressy" fixed blade that is decent at all for under $60.00.

Now, if you were to bump your spending limit up to say... $150.00, there would be lots of choices.

There are lots of very nice folders, however, that aren't too far from your limit.

ps: Welcome to the forum!

Fixed blade and Gentleman's knife are on the verge of an oxymoron. Leather sheath to boot, tough pill to swallow.

Look at the BRKT Micro Canadian or the Micro Slither. They sit well in a pocket and have 2in blades. Come with a nice sheath. You wont find one for $60 though.

Pocketknives are too easily lost, even those with a clip work out of my jeans, or get rubbed out. Or I lose it..... ;) With a sheath knife, it would be less likely to get lost.

Blade - 2.7" x .102 thick
Handle - 3.25" x .25 thick
Overall - 5.95"
Sheath - Leather pocket sheath
It's a custom one.

At the $70 range you will be limited as to choice.

I understand. However, being 18, and therefore not having much money, I hope to find something to fill the bill, that will not lay waste to my wallet if I lose it.

Hmm, Dozier comes to mind, but then, that's kinda pricey and you would need to build a leather sheath. Check out Ragweed Forge; there are some classy puukko's that might meet your needs.

Canal Street Trailing Drop Point Hunter about $80

Queen Premium Drop Point.
3 1/2" D2 steel blade
You'd probably have to sharpen it a mite. But, it's a good blade.
Runs $44 at Cumberland knife.

I had forgotten about these. Nice little knives from a reputable knife maker. I'd have to do something about that sheath, though. :p

SpiffyTexan, are you handy with tools at all? What do you think about putting together your own kit knife? There are lots of options on the market, and it would be like no other when you were finished.

Just a thought.

Look at the middle and lower two examples below. The middle is a current Buck 005RWS, which runs ~$75-$90 - but it's fine sibling, the 005GYS, is ~$50-$55. Below is an older ('01) Marble's 'Dall Deweese' cocobolo handled commemorative and, bottom, a commemorative 'Mini Caper' in stag. They were ~$60 each from an evil-bayer - great smaller knives, with simple, easily pocketable leather sheaths. The Mini Caper is ~7.25" long sheathed, while the Dall Deweese is 8.125" long - like the sheathed Buck 005GYS.
