Gentlemans blade

I often carry a Buck 503 Prince, Victorinox Tinker, or a Case mini trapper.

The Tinker could also be considered more of a multi tool than a true gentleman's blade.

I carry a Kershaw of some kind or another most of the time, and when I'm feeling gentlemanly, I go with a Groove or OD-1.

Best gentlemans knives for under $150.....AAAANNNNND..........GO!

I think I would be looking for a natural material grip for a gentlemans folder - bone or wood. Anyone ever worked with some kind of stone as a handle material?

Sante Fe stone works has made some beautiful stone handles on many models and brands

Please don't get any of the knives pictured as knowledge of what a Gentleman's knife is has been lost. DM

My 2 cents - I carry a Vic "Alox Classic" and/or an old stainless Spyderco Copilot!

Spyderco Des Horn.

Very underrated folder!

Very light at just 1.98 ounces. Nice polished G-10 and narrow profile. It can be had for about $100. Another high quality Taichung Spyderco.

When I think about gentleman's carry I also think about knives that would be good for using if the need arises (why carry a knife that couldn't actually be used for something) and I think about knives like the Spyderco Sage 1 or 2, or the Benchmade 470 Emissary. However all of those are smaller than I would be comfortable carrying.

Among the knives that I own, my best for gentleman's carry would be the Benchmade 890 Torrent. It has smooth sculpted G10 scales and is relatively trim and light.

I bought this CRKT Delegate for gentleman's carry but it is a little bit small for me. It is very similar to a Leek in operation and only a very tiny bit larger. It has bone and anodized aluminum scales so it is more elegant than any of my other EDC knives.

In reality I am happy to carry almost any of my knives clipped to my pocket in dress pants, up to my ZT 0561. The only limitation I can see with dress pants is that I usually wear dark pants and something light like my Cruwear Military would not go with the dark pants or I would carry it too.

I thought about this for a long time, and the answer that I finally got was the knife on a Skeletool CX.

I know, not a "proper" knife. But look at it this way: if I feel the need for a "gentleman's knife", I am probably not going to be able to bring the rest of my usual kit with me, and I am likely going to deal with people who may react adversely to a "knife" regardless of it's size, shape, or color.

I know of at least one person who regards the Boker Nano as a "dangerous weapon".....

But I digress. The point is that the Skeletool provides me with some of the same utility as my regular pocket kit, but it's perceived as a multitool, so it accomplishes the same goal as a "gentleman's knife", which is to package a cutting tool in a form which is more acceptable for use in an environment which is generally less knife-friendly.
