this looks really nice

Put your money where your name is. If you're truly a blademaniac spring for a custon knife. You know you are worth it.

Protech J-4 Runt, automatic & legal carry in some locales.

If over $150 budget - William Henry are gorgeous if not overpriced gentleman's knives.

For a budget gentleman's blade I am partial to the Kershaw Zing. The orange one with Sandvik steel.

The blade design and orange scales make it a fun budget knife. :)

I have one in snakewood with the corkscrew on the back.

Otherwise great but the build quality on mine is off. The blade rubs the steel liner when closed. It is also very heavy.

My vote goes to one of the Moki folders, a swiss army knife, or the spyderco caly 3.

Enzo Birk 75 comes in carbon fibre, curly birch and G10. Very classy.

I dont like to brag much, but I have the BEST WIFE EVER. She picked out and bought this little beauty from benchmade for my birthday last year. I asked for a new ladder and this is what she gave me! She has wonderful taste, and she included a small heartfelt note that experssed that she would continue to love me even though I spend too much time playing with my knives. It will never ever leave my possession. I carry it every day in the coin pocket of my jeans. I dont pull it out much at the shop (thats what my Rat 1 is for) but I just like to have it with me. Also, it is an assassin (sp?) of all that is junk mail.

Gentleman's folder through and through.

Recently got a Kershaw Higo Nokami and I love it.

Wow, didn't know about these. They look great in vids. I didn't realize that it had a lock. Any way to open it with one hand?

They're very nice and narrow. Actually has a lock.

I got one last year and did a comparison picture back then in the thread: Shun Higo Nokami DM5900 "Ultimate Gentleman's Personal Knife"

The Benchmade 482 Megumi is quite striking and very small & narrow. The only issue is to not depend on the Nak-Lok too much since it can fail.

Another nice one in that family is the Benchmade 480-1 Shoki which is slightly larger but with full CF and M390.

The EnZo Birk 75 folders are well built in Finland. Somewhat thicker than the norm. Current batch is Scandi grind in D2 (see first one below) like mine but they're supposed to come out with Flat grind in S30V (second one below).

I'm a big fan of the ProTech sub-2" blade automatics which are legal in California. Other than the Runt J4 there's also the Sprint model. Quite a few varieties in terms of blade shape, blade material, handle color and inlays.

Mcusta has some "gentleman" folders, however I'd opt for one with wood scales if you want something more elegant.

The Spyderco Gayle Bradley is sort of a "hard use gentlemans knife" that is tough as nails. It's not elegant, but it's not tacticool either. It's kind of in between the two.

For my birthday this year,my wife almost got me that exact knife, but decided on a 940 instead. She didn't know what it was, but said she almost got me "a real pretty wood knife with some black stuff on the handle and a button". She said it was the most expensive knife the store had on display, and I was familiar with the store, so I knew what I had missed. I'm still happy with my 940, but here's to hoping next year. And I agree, that is my idea of a gentleman's knife.
