As the title states, I'm looking for a gentleman's folder/classy edc knife, with a budget of roughly $75 or so. Think bone, horn, wood etc but more modern features like a pocket clip and one hand opening would be great too. Something with a handmade look and feel would be great. This will be a gift.
Thanks in advance guys, this is my first post!

Welcome to BF! Prepare to open your mind and empty your wallet!!!

Check out :

LionSteel Opera Series--I have the regular size in cocobolo--beautiful knife.
Mcusta if you don't mind tip down clip.

I had the same quest a few years ago, something that I could use like a normal "modern" knife, but still be classy enough for the office.

I settled on the Boker Exskelimoor II. Its got a 2.75in 440C blade, bog oak handle scales, Ti clip, and it can be opened with one hand pretty easily with a bit of practice. And I think its $40-50.

*not my photo, but mine looks just like it.

And looking at it now, they have another one, with a brighter wood finish. Don't know as much about it though. Looks to use Red Maple scales.

Good luck with whatever you do :).

Checked out lionsteel and mcusta, both make nice knives but nothing that catches my attention in this price range. The Boker seems like a quality knife but a little plainer and more modern than I had in mind.
Thanks for the suggestions so far, keep em coming!
And yes, shoulda hid my wallet. Since discovering this forum a week ago I've picked up a Spyderco Sage 1 and a BM 531. Oops.

What do you know of thats similar to what you are looking for?
Check out the CRKT Eros, might be too modern.

If you're willing to forego one handed and a clip. There are a ton of slipjoints that you may consider.

or possibly a Russlock

My favorite slippie style is the Canoe

Both of the above are well within your price range, and the Russlock can be opened one handed, but unfortunately no clip on either.

That russlock is frickin cool but makes me think the same thing I do when I start thinking I want a Svord Peasant- that big pecker sticking out of the top would annoy the crap out of me rattling around in my pocket or pinching my fingers when I flick it.

Not entirely sure, but I like the aesthetics of Case, Queen, Canal Street, Northwoods, that type of thing. I also love the BM Summit, the 482and the 930

If you like the aesthetics of Case, check out their Trapperlock. Has a pocket clip and one hand opening. Can be had with bone handles for around $70-$80. Here is a pic from knifecenter.com

Here's what I've been carrying as my Gentleman's folder when I have to dress up. I usually carry my Benchmade 890 and this CRKT KISS Assist. Maybe it's a little too modern, but it really is a pretty knife and has held up really well. The CF inlay gives it an air of class I think

You could also try a CRKT Cobia?

Take a look at Moki knives. Their more expensive knives are in VG10, but some are less in AUS8.

They make a SOG Twitch (or Twitch II) with wood. It's very slim which is more important to me in a dressy knife, then again I wouldn't use the clip if wearing suit unless it's the inside pocket of my jacket.

If you don’t mind two-hand opening, I highly recommend the Benchmade Small Summit Lake. It’s a few bucks more than your stated budget, but it has outstanding fit & finish and is U.S. made. Additionally, it comes with a deep carry clip (right hand tip up only, though). Here’s a pic of mine, along with a Boker Plus Exskelibur II in maple burl for comparison:

I've always liked the look of the Benchmade Swale. Wood scales, clip, and one handed opening possible.

Another knife to consider is the Case Mini Copperlock. It is a very thin single blade, lockback style traditional. With a blade length of 2.75 inches, it is a good choice for many office situations.
