If you don't want to spend that much, or you might sometimes use a smaller knife...try a Dragonfly in carbon fiber. No one has ever asked me "could you kill someone with that?" Many have even oohed and aahed. Maybe $70 online or $50 or so used.
I bet stainless steel would be fine also, if you like it better. The Solos (you can still get them from the factory store) are also very attractive, although I don't have one myself, and about $50 with a micarta handle.

I also have to second the Benchmade 850. I had one in pearl, and wore it to a wedding. I was searching for a lose string to cut, but alas there was none to be found. It was fun to show off, though. Man, I'll miss that knife...

I also have the damascus A.G. Russell like the one posted by Senator. That's a great one too.

The 850 can be found for around 120-140 usually.

The pertinent question here is, "How big a gent's knife do I need at a wedding."

Hey! thanks for all the help...unfortuately, now i have even more choices...however, it seems that this category, more than almost any I've seen, is a personal choice...maybe because it really shows what each of us finds as the utmost in beauty and class?, or something else like that.

anyway....who said go without a knife?? was that you Shmackey? i haven't been without a knife since i was 18...id feel more naked without that than without the tux...lol. (ok, so sometimes when i go swimming, its just near me, not on me...).

well, ill keep watching this, and go investigate some of these suggestions. ill let ya'll know what i decide.

Actually, about the only Spyderco products I like fall under the very category in question. Any of the selections on this page would prolly fit the bill:

I had the 3/4 size Jess Horn in white micarta, and found that it was a superb gent's folder. Had to get rid of it for cash flow reasons (That and the fact that I am no gentleman), but it was a true gent's folder to be sure. Try out that page and see what you think.

Sometimes I catch myself assuming that everybody knows their way around a pocket knife. Then I remember what the first three letters of "assume" are.

I just picked up a Spyderco Viele VG-10 today and it is the perfect gentleman's folder. It's classy looking, yet tactical and not "scary." It's feels great in my hand yet I hardly know it's in my waistband. The lock-up is superb. Give it a try; you won't regret it.

Has anyone considered Boker TLP-1 or TLP-2?

At $155 suggested retail, it runs slightly over the $150 budget, but it is really a gentleman's knife. It is very light, with very stylish curves. I'm sure it will catch a lot of attention, even from the ladies... plus, the blade comes in a classy matt silver casing, like those for expensive pens.
