Gentleman's Linerlock Flipper

I was just hoping for something a little larger than the Eros.

Yes I agree. That would be my only other complaint. I wish it had around a 3.5" blade instead of a 3". But I don't know if this helps any but it slices like a laser with that 3" blade it has! ;)

Check out John Kubasek's work (not sure on the rules for posting links so just run a search on the name and several sites will pop up). He makes some nice knives that may fit your bill. I have one and is really nice, too nice really so I dont use it much. For all intents and purposes they are like framelocks but have scales in different materials to prevent the problem you are talking about. Also the new Spartan Blades folder might work also. :D

I agree about the Ripples and highly recommend both the linerlock and framelock versions. The flipper, coupled with the IKBS, make for an addictive opening system.

CRKT is said to be introducing new Ripples next year.

As to the Eros, I always considered it pointy and overpriced, but I'm eager to see your comments.

At real world prices, it's hard to beat the Chill, Skyline or Vantages.

I'm waiting to get my blue Skyline with S30V. You might still find some available.

Also, Spyderco and BM just issued flippers, both manual.

Haven't tried the BM yet but the blade is just over 3 inches and the price is a bargain at just over $100! It may be heavier than you want.

Spyderco's new Southard is pricier, with a longer blade. It feels much lighter in the hand or pocket than its actual weight (just over 4 oz).

The Taiwanese workmanship is superb. And the flipper is a dream. This is competition for mid-tech "Grail" knives, with the added attraction of a flipper and Spyderco's attention for details.

Thanks. I've also been checking out Chuck Gedraitis's latest flippers. Problem is, they don't last long enough on the Exchange for me to get to them before somebody swoops in and buys them. I suppose I could contact Chuck if I wanted him to make one for me. I'm just not sure I want to buy a full-blown custom.

Now you have my attention. Any word yet on what CRKT is planning to use for blade/handle materials?

Funny you should mention that. The blade shape is what's holding me back from buying one. The Eros is just a little too pointy for me.

The BF Skyline is sold out. Otherwise I'd pick one up.

I'm a fan of both Spyderco and Benchmade knives. But you're correct. Both the Southard and the 300SN are too heavy for my use.

It is pointy but it performance is very impressive. If precise "razor like" cutting ability is important to you then you will like the Eros.

How about a custom order from Alan Davis? I've seen both flippers and liner locks from him but I'm not sure I've seen the two combined. He might be able to hook you up. Everything I've seen from him falls in your price range.

Thanks. I like Alan's work as well. But of the custom makers, my favorite so far is Chuck Gedtraitis. His recent Titanium flippers have been terrific.
