Gentlemen’s knife

Black paint on the blade tends towards being tactical, whether that's tacticool, suburban tactical, or just being a bit edgy. If the rest of the knife design is gentlemanly, it can work with a black blade, but it's definitely a results may vary situation. It's like putting on a nice black turtleneck sweater. If you combine it with a balaclava and a large flashlight you're probably not going to get invited into most social settings. I still remember one of the hosts on BladeHQ trying not very successfully to argue that the CRKT M-16 was a gentlemanly knife...
