I think this is whats called a gent's bowie. Correct me if I am not right.

Blade is 6" X 1 1/8" 1084 and 15N20 with a very random pattern around 400 layers. OAL 10 3/4 "
fittings are stainless and copper, handle is stag ivory.
comments please.

I'd, call it "a right fine job" and a gents Bowie if that's what you want. Afterall it's yours you can call it sweetheart if you want!:D:thumbup:

Very nice. I did a little experiment with that "stag ivory" trick. I had a lame peice of stag that I ground smooth, but I dyed it with Fiebings and it ended up looking kind of like walrus. I am using it on a KITH knife.

Love that blade (shape and pattern)! That is a great random pattern. Works very well with the faux ivory handle.

Wow ! Great looking knife Mike

IMHO, proportionally perfect !

Stag buffs up beautifully doesn't it ? I've only put handles on a few knives using Sambar Stag and was amazed at its density the first time I used it. Elk or Whitetail Antler buffs up to look great too, but Stag has a little nicer appearance IMO. If you don't mind me asking, how did you finish up the butt ?

Great job !!
