gents folders -- as good as the Mnandi but for $50 -- what are your suggestions?

kershaw splinter w/quince handles ....

...would have been my suggestion, too.
Pretty similar shape to the Mnandi.
The wider curve of the grip makes it better in the hand.

And while the Mandi's perfect beauty can hardly be rivalled,
I find the Splinter a bit more gentleMANLY.

best, t.

Hve a look at Case knives. Different patterns and handle materials, most available at or below your price point. (Sometimes I carry a Jade Bartender for dressier occassions)

Others for consideration may be Boker, Marbles or Queen. I specifically speak of slipjoints for each company. Each company seels quality items at or near 50.00.

Hope this helps.

I like Al Mar Osprey. Real Gent. Real nice, Real classy. A bit much than what you are asking for.

SOG flash 2.5" is nice small knife.

Kershaw Boa, Mojo.

I would recommend the kopa if quality is more important to you than a knife that looks similar to an mnandi. I own both and while the quality of my kopa is not to the level of my mnandi, I am reminded of my mnandi when handling my kopa due to its incredible quality. For $120 no less!!

I carry a CRKT Viele Wasp when I'm wearing a suit. Blue scales with a woodgrain look, it's a really nice looking folder.

No Mokis in the $50 range, but if you want the best bang for the buck gent's folder that would be my bet. They are now importing directly to the U.S. and you can get the 501 in Hirose pearl for $144 on eBay with VG10 steel. About as good as it gets. It's still less than 1/2 the price of a Mnandi and is actually IMHO a more attractive knife. BTW I own like 5 Mnandis and probably 25 Mokis. I think someone is selling a wood handled inlaid Moki in the $120 range on eBay.

MOKI makes a little folder called, the Silver Feather. Nothing but a blade and a stainless handle and a back lock, but the fit and finish rivals that of many customs. You can find one of these at gun/knife shows for the price range listed.
