Gents Folders

I don't understand why so many people inconvenience themselves to assuage the ridiculous fears of others... Buy what you want and use it. Its a free country...for now.
For me and most people, it's not a question of frightening people (I've never had that reaction from anybody) but of fitting in to a specific environment. A gent's knife is exactly that, something to use in an office or upscale social gathering.

It's a free country as you point out, but if you show up in the boardroom wearing a Crocodile Dundee outfit and chomping on an Ostrich leg, you may not last long at that company. You could comfort yourself with the knowledge that it's perfectly legal to do that though. ;)

Torz:

EXACTLY. All my EDC's are tactical. Tacticals not only function as good SD tools, they have to LOOK like good SD tools (so that bad guys run for cover when they see it).

The problem with the latter aspect of tactical EDC's is that you don't necessarily want that effect when you're working in a big investment bank, in NYC of all places. Sure, these opinions can get annoying, and I generally ignore these opinions, but these opinions can also get me FIRED.

I see my future gents knife as an investment towards avoiding this scenario.

Keep 'em coming guys! These are great!

You could always try carrying two knives, a decent large folder tucked away for when it's needed and a smaller "gent's" knife for use around the office/etc.

Here is the 705-401:

I'll second shpshooter on the BM 705-401. I just received mine on Monday and it's great. As with all 705s it's "built like a tank," but the silver G10 dresses it up. I've showed it to some people in my law office and none found it threatening.

By the way, it looks much more silver then what is shown in that pic. It doesn't have a gray tint, it is bright silver.

I've been into Gent's knives for several years and have owned numerous examples during that time. These models include the Spydie Mouse, Benchmade Mel Pardue Gent's knife and 450 Park Ave., WH Lancet, Knife House Hara Lakeland as well as the Kershaw Scallion and Leek. They are all gone or will soon be gone. I've also looked at the Al Mar Classic Hawk, Nemesis Imp, Spydie Kiwi and several other Benchmades but decided not to purchase them. The reason I no longer own or never bought the aforementioned knives is because of the CRK Mnandi. I've even come to prefer it over the small Sebbie as my EDC. The Mnandi is an amazing knife where, IMHO, you have an unparalleled joining, within the Gent's knife field, of top notch F&F, materials and superior ergonomics. On top of all that the folks at CRK will stand behind it 100% as with each of their products. I know they are expensive but the Mnandi is worth every dime. ;)

From what I have seen, owned, and handled, the really nice gents folders are:

CR Mnandi
William Henry (a number of nice models to choose from)
Moki (not the cheaper plastic-handled ones)

Any of those would serve you well.

G'day,
My best gent's folder is a Jeff Angelo Fluted Folder by Lone Wolf.

I like so many, and so many were mentioned here, so i will add Rainy Vallotton. I have one of his Stingers.

The Benchmade 770, the 705-401 and conventional 705 , the 921 and 960 . The 921 has a real qute slipjoint cigar cutter blade , the master blade is a very good performer . The small Sebenza mostly ellicits curiosity, especially around engeneering and computer types . Last but not least the 310 Benchmite , or 3100 benchmite auto . I've won quite q few free drinks from people who could'nt figure them out !
