GENTS KNIFE BLADE LENGTH? Comments?

Size doesn't matter as long as you know how to use what you have and it can rise to the occasion! (i.e. good steel, solid lock & sharp)

3.5 for me - I prefer just a little more length to the blade

I like oosic scales. That way the knife will increase in size according to need. (wish I knew how to make one of those smiley's!) Paracelsus

Seriously, I don't have a custom gents folder YET. My BM 850 Mel Purdue is just about ideal for my daily carry needs (2.75 inch flat ground drop point).

About 2.75 and lightweight with a clip.

I like to carry one clipped inside my shirt pocket.

Readily accessible when you're sitting down and not subject to cosmetic blemishes from keys etc. in your pants pocket.

Yeah I'm crazy, but what do you want me to do about it

My biggest issue with pockets knives is weight. I would be more inclined to think in terms of a weight limit and carry the biggest knife I could make under that weight. Don't know what that weight would be though.

For a knife with a metal frame and bolsters, 2.5" or so might me my limit. I carry David Boye lockbacks, and an A.G. Russel Horn/Russel lockback most often, with 3.25" blades and Zytel or Micarta handles. I also carry an Al Mar Hawk, that I think is about two and a half inches.

Whatcha got cookin' Darrel? Another custom series? I'll take one.

I really like popeye`s idea of a damascus clip, removable,of course. If it was a low riding clip,it would be out of the norm to not cause any negative attention.I like 3" plus or minus a little.Weight is a factor but carryability is more a function of good design than actual measured heaviness.
i also like a slip sheath. It gives total concealability and keeps the knife from getting beaten up by whatever else finds itself in that pocket.I often carry a wood inlayed Sebenza that way on dressed-up occasions. The only thing that is lost is a little bit of drawspeed.
Good topic
