Gent's Knife

The spyderco Kopa is a really nice knife with excellant fit and finish also the spyderco volpe is nice but the design isnt for everyone

Mcustas are really nice too my favorite is the katana series. These are excellant knives that dont get their due credit.

Another gentlemans folder that i really like but cant remember if it has a clip is the IMP from nemesis knives

For me though if i was in the market for a smaller gents type knife in your price range id be looking for a benchmade 707-600 D2 blade and walnut inserts

William Henry and Chris Reeve make some of the best gents knives on the market but they are out of your price range

always loved it, great little knife for 114.95@knifecenter.com

Another nod towards a MCUSTA. I have two of them and they are really nice knives for the price.

You could always try to track down a Benchmade 310.

The Lone Wolf Paul Pocket Knife is a nice one as well, if the Prankster is bigger than what you're looking for.

My office knives, after much much buying over the years, have stabilized on a Mcusta Take in all-damascus and an quincewood Splinter (but I removed the pocket clip). Both look great, don't freak sheeple out, feel good in the hand, and perform all office EDC tasks well. I prefer a linerlock to a lockback which is why I haven't gone for a Kopa although it looks nice. But I have held that Moki in the pic on the previous page with the pearl insetrs, and lemme tell you if I was going to go with a lockback that would be the one - it is GORGEOUS in person and feels great in the hand, top-notch quality construction. But it doesn't have a pocket clip.

What makes a gent's knife?

It is early Spring, and you are at a social gathering on the veranda of a Victorian mansion situated on 200 acres just outside of Charleston, SC. A cool spring breeze is bringing the smell of ribs from the grill.

The estate's owner, a young widow who recently inherited a shipping fortune of almost $800M, is clearly captivated by your charm and good humor. She approaches, accompanied by her twin sister. After a shy giggle, the widow asks if you might slice a lime for her Gin and Tonic.

You:

a) remove your BK7 from an inside-the-waistband sheath, causing the widow to retract in fear and drop her Gin and Tonic; her security personnel wrestle you to the ground and remove you from the estate; or,

b) you casually remove a small, finely crafted folder hand-made of exquisite and costly materials. You expertly slice the lime with its razor edge, and place a slice in the widow's drink. Your hand casually touches hers, precipitating her to blush. After an embarrassed pause, she asks if you might accompany her and and her sister on a private walking tour of the riding stables. You accept, and begin your stroll as the sun begins to set behind the adjacent hills.

If your answer is b), you were carrying a gent's knife.

right on

LMAO!!!! :D :D :D :D

That was great! Best answer to a question I've seen all year ;)

Must disagree with the necessity of "handmade" and "exquisite and costly materials" though. Lots of reasonably priced, all stainless steel gent's knives out there.

... I wonder what a similar answer would be for a (straight) girl?

My "Gents" carry is a S/S Spyderco Cricket.Works well in tails, dinner jacket,or business suit.Slip a Seecamp .32 acp. into the other front pocket for counter balance and you're good to go.tom.:)

That is the best answer that I have ever heard!!! ROFLAO!!!!

That was a heck of a good answer.

When I hear the term gentlemans knife my mind automatically thinks of a small folder usually with multiple blades, ss or brass bolsters and some kind of bone or wood handle. (Like a case knife) This isnt an all in-compassing definition just what i think of. The original poster asked for a gentlemans knife with a clip and the best examples of these that i can think of are the Chris Reeve mnandi and most william henry's however these are out of his price range. A spyderco Kopa or some mcustas seem to be gentleman-type folders with clips.

bladehq.com has the Leek ZDP-189/Titanium for $125 in stock. I just ordered one myself. Should be an awesome 'gent's folder'!
